Is there anything more relaxing than having beer and pretzel with sunglasses on at a beer garden? Plus with a view of a lake?
Tiergarten (think Central Park) in Berlin has one of the most charming yet secluded beer gardens I've been to.
Like any other places in Berlin, Tiergarten has layers of history - from the royal hunting ground centuries ago (Tiergarten literally means zoo) and under Nazi control to post-war restoration, now the park serves as a green lung of the fascinating city.
After the bike tour, we needed to unwind from all the emotions we experienced from visiting historic sites. We rode bikes with kids in the park, stopped at a rose garden, and made another random stop to do some yoga stretches on the grass.
Sitting back of the rowboat without any destination, while kids singing and having fun through the deepest green on a lake remains one of happiest memories of our trip.
It was a lovely Summer afternoon.
